Christmas 2009

After 1300 miles, multiple rest stops, few hours of sleep, and lots of food, Christmas 2009 was an adventure to say the least!  I’m so happy that we put in all the effort to be with both families, it was well worth it.

First, we drove to Jersey to be with my side of the family.  I’m not sure why I didn’t bring my camera to my dad’s Christmas, next time!  At least it allowed me to really pay attention to my little sister, Natalia and be engaged in all the conversation.  After my dad’s house, we had Christmas at my mom’s.  Both dinners were filled with all the traditional delicious Polish foods like pierogies, herring in sour cream, peas with cabbage and poppyseed bread, beet soup, wild mushroom soup, fish made Greek style, compot…oooo I can’t even remember the rest!  It was all so delicious!

Strawberry compot…half mixture, half boiling water…The moment I smell the fragrance or think of this, it reminds me of Poland…E-mail me if you want to know how to make it!

I’ve been bothering my mom to write me all her Polish recipes, so she got me this cook book.  Now I just need to brush up on my Polish reading skills!  “Kuchnia Polska” means Polish Kitchen. =)

Yummm…Polish kielbasa is the best.  We don’t eat meat on Christmas Eve, but my mom made this for her co-workers at work… It’s kielbasa, peppers, onions, diced tomatoes, a little vegeta and salt and pepper!  Delicious!  I hope El Paso has a Polish deli!!??? haha..probably not…

We left Jersey after 10pm on Christmas Eve, got to Morgantown around 3:30, slept for a few hours and then drove to Matheny, WV in the morning to Brad’s side of the family.  They have sooo many kids and babies in their family that it made Christmas that much more fun!  There was wrapping paper everywhere!  It was awesome.

Connor is my little boyfriend.  He tried to get me alone in his bedroom, haha…so cute.
Abby is pure sweetness.  I love those cheeks and little blonde curls!

Too many presents to pick up!

Some of the grandkids bought their grandma a digital frame…good idea!

I love Christmas, and can’t wait to have my own little ones to photograph!
Next up is New Years Eve (aka my sister’s birthday!)…my favorite!  I LOVE NYE!
Enjoy and end 2009 with a bang!
